If you have recently found out that you have problems with high cholesterol, more than likely you are looking for ways that you can achieve normal cholesterol levels. While medications are sometimes used to lower cholesterol levels, it is much better if you can control your cholesterol without having to be on medication for the problem. Tip #4 – Eat Plenty of Fruits and Vegetables – Eating plenty of fruits and vegetables is another way that you can achieve normal cholesterol levels. Almost all fruits have pectin in them and some of the best fruits to eat include oranges, apples, and even grapefruit. Vegetables such as carrots also have pectin in them and can drastically help you bring your cholesterol down to a more normal level.

Tip #5 – Get Plenty of Exercise – Exercise is extremely important if you are going to make sure you have a normal level of cholesterol. One of the best ways that you can raise your levels of good cholesterol and lower the levels of bad cholesterol is to take the time to get active. Exercising also helps you to get rid of fat after you eat as well, and if you clear the fat from your blood it won’t contribute to your cholesterol level.

Tip #6 – Quit Smoking – Believe it or not, smoking could actually be another thing that has your cholesterol levels out of whack. Even if you only smoke a few cigarettes each week, it can still increase the level of your cholesterol. When you smoke, you actually lower the amount of good cholesterol in your blood, which means your body cannot effectively fight off the bad cholesterol. Working to stop smoking can definitely help you lower your cholesterol levels.

Tip #7 – Reduce Stress in Your Life – People who have a high amount of stress in their live often deal with high cholesterol levels. Too much stress can actually raise the level of bad cholesterol. It is important that you take some time to relax and reduce the amount of stress in your life if you want to improve your cholesterol levels.

Tip #8 – Consider Taking Calcium Supplements – Taking calcium supplements may also help you keep your cholesterol at a normal level. You can lower your levels of bad cholesterol by up to 8% if you take a calcium daily. So, not only will it help strengthen your bones, but it can also lower your cholesterol.
